When I go grocery shopping, I take the point calculator, my complete food guide, and a magic marker and my fat picture with me. I check the points on everything at the store and mark it on the box as it goes in the cart. If something has a lot of points, I just pull out the picture of me at 286lbs and I put the food back on the shelf.
My fridge is stocked with 0 pt veggies, low pt fruit, extra lean meat, and 2% cheese. The 0 pt veggies I wash and dice and place in plastic containers. That way an easy salad or treat is always available. I make my own salad dressing so that I know it is healthy and low in points.
I have a small silver spoon( salt spoon) that I use for eating desserts. It makes it last longer. I buy ff pudding and either smart one or skinny cow ice-cream sandwiches. I try to limit myself to one treat per day because of the sugar in them.
I bought a rubber maid sports bottle with the straw that goes to the bottom. I keep it full 24/7. I am always drinking water. It is a quart size bottle and I go through any where from 4 to 8 of these a day.
I bought extra sets of measuring cups and spoons and a digital food scale. I weigh and measure everything!!!!!! This way I do not goof up on portion sizes. I am a southerner and a portion to a southerner is a plate full and the bigger the plate the better. LOL
I eat my salads with chopsticks a lot of times. I try to put my fork, spoon, or chopsticks down between bites and actually enjoy the flavor and texture of my food.
The first couple of weeks I ate a lot of the frozen smart one dinners. I have stopped because of the added sodium. I cook a lot of things on my days off and then portion it out and freeze so it is ready to go in the microwave.
I have added exercise. I swim in the morning, walk the dog, and go to the gym at night after work.
I also threw out all high pt or tempting food in my house. I live alone so that was not a big deal.
The main thing is journal, journal, journal. Even If I am going over pts and trust me I have, I write it down!!!!!!!!
I hope this helps a little.
